Press Kit
The Axiom Trilogy was written as an entertaining anime/low fantasy story with altruistic and humanitarian themes. I'm happy to discuss anything relating to Axiom, Maxim, and Dictum if there's a positive approach to any request.

Author Kyle Durant’s ‘Axiom’ Is a Must-Read for Anime and Manga Fans
If you’re on the lookout for a fresh and heartfelt superhero story, Kyle Durant’s Axiom might just be your next great read. Blending elements from anime, cartoons, and video games, this first installment in the Axiom Trilogy offers more than just action-packed scenes—it carries a message of kindness, humanity, and the hope for a better world.
Introducing ‘Axiom’: A Fresh Take on Superheroes
At the heart of Axiom is Dustin, an altruistic college student disillusioned by the state of humanity. Every day, he witnesses selfishness and cruelty, which only deepens his desire to help others—a drive rooted in his own painful past. One morning, Dustin wakes up to find himself stuck to his apartment ceiling. It’s not a dream; the planet itself has gifted him with extraordinary energy and ki-based superpowers.
But these newfound abilities come with revelations and responsibilities. Dustin learns that Earth is alive in ways he never imagined, possessing its own physical form just like other planets. This connection introduces him to a cosmic struggle against an ancient evil older than the galaxy, and forces him to confront personal demons he thought he’d left behind.
Meet the Characters: Dustin, Rachel, and Ryan
The story isn’t just about Dustin’s journey; it’s also enriched by two compelling characters who stand firmly by his side.
Rachel is more than just the protagonist’s love interest. She’s independent, headstrong, and harbors her own dark past. Rachel’s resilience allows her to hold her ground against formidable foes, whether they’re ordinary adversaries or superpowered antagonists. Her character brings depth to the narrative, showcasing strength and vulnerability in equal measure.
Then there’s Ryan, Dustin’s best friend. He’s awkwardly emotional at times, and his sense of humor adds a lighter touch to the story. But don’t let that fool you—Ryan is one of the world’s most brilliant minds. As the trilogy progresses, his genius leads to incredible technological advancements: accessing the multiverse, creating advanced androids, and developing an array of sophisticated weaponry and machinery. His contributions are pivotal, often tipping the scales in their collective fight for a better world.
The Author Behind the Story: Kyle Durant’s Inspiration
Kyle Durant didn’t have the easiest start in life, and his personal experiences deeply influence Axiom. Much like Dustin, Kyle understands sadness and the yearning for altruism in a world that often feels harsh and unkind. He wrote this story for anyone who has felt pain or isolation, hoping to remind them they’re not alone and that they’re not crazy for wanting goodness to prevail. Kyle believes there’s still plenty of good in the world, and through collective effort, we can change it for the better.
His connection to the characters and the narrative is palpable, making the story resonate on a more intimate level. It’s not just about superheroes and epic battles; it’s about the human condition, the struggles we face, and the hope that keeps us moving forward.
Anime, Cartoons, and Video Games: The Influences Shaping ‘Axiom’
One of the standout aspects of Axiom is how it seamlessly weaves in influences from various forms of entertainment. If you’re a fan of high-energy fights and dynamic combat scenes typical of anime and manga, you’re in for a treat. The book features intense battles with unique ki-based superpowers, martial arts, and spectacular beam struggles that would make any anime enthusiast’s heart race.
But it’s not all about the action. The story also delves into themes commonly explored in video games and cartoons, such as the fight between good and evil, personal growth, and the importance of friendship and teamwork. These elements come together to create a rich and engaging world that’s both familiar and refreshingly new.

Final Thoughts
Axiom isn’t just another superhero tale; it’s a story with heart, depth, and a sincere message about humanity’s potential for goodness. With compelling characters, a rich blend of influences, and an author who pours his own experiences into the narrative, this book offers something special for readers seeking both excitement and meaning. Whether you’re drawn in by the promise of epic battles or the exploration of altruistic ideals, Axiom invites you to join Dustin on his journey to change the world—both inside the book and out.
We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Please tell us about your book.
Axiom combines anime, cartoon, and video game-inspired moments wrapped in a kind and caring message. The story has humanitarian and altruistic themes and fights for a better world inside the book and out.
Axiom is about Dustin, an altruistic college student who hates what his species has become. Due to his past, he only wants to help people, but he sees the opposite every day. Then, one day, he wakes up stuck to the ceiling of his college apartment and discovers the planet herself has bestowed upon him literal energy and ki-based superpowers.
He learns that the Earth is alive like us, has its own physical body, and other planets are in a similar situation. However, this newfound way to help people, and change the world for the better, comes with a warning of an evil older than the galaxy and a personal demon from Dustin’s past.
Please tell us about your journey.
I did not have the best start to life and experienced significant hardship along the way. This made me empathetic and made me want to help anyone I could while recognizing the hardship and corruption in the world. I especially grew exasperated at how society was not serving everyone and how people in power were making things worse.
Weirdly enough, as a kid, I scoffed at the idea of writing a book. It seemed like too much work and something I could never hope to do. Then, in 2014, I was at a job fresh out of college, where I had plenty of free time. I was reading one of my favorite authors at the time (D.J. MacHale) and one of his forwards mentioned to “write what you know.” That simple phrase inspired a passion I didn’t know I had, and it led me on an almost decade-long journey of writing not just one book but three in the same story. Finally, after several jobs, children, a mortgage, and that wonderful Covid fiasco, I got the first part in the Axiom trilogy published earlier this month, November 2024.
It’s kind of funny in a way as well because I didn’t think people would want a story that looks to a better future at first. Until a certain U.S. event happened around the same time I published my book, and I knew I had to continue this dream.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I feel that my strategies were just more of who I am. I wrote what I knew, and that included a metric ton of anime/cartoons I watched, manga I read, and video games I played. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you want to look at it, I also knew hardship, pain, and a strong desire to help people.
Any message for our readers
Never give up on trying to make the world a better place. No matter how hard it is.
Thank you so much, Kyle, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
Do not hesitate to send me a message about Axiom, its two sequels, or anything else. If you're genuine in your request, I will get around to it and respond. We have to show each other that there is still good in the world.
